MLN Field, Algeria: PAEP Carried Out Successful Turnaround Maintenance

Algeria – MLN Field successfully completed a Turnaround Maintenance  in the second quarter of 2023 as previously approved by Algerian regulators.

PT Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Algeria EP (PAEP) ensures this Turnaround Maintenance represents the company’s commitment to thoroughly review the field’s facilities and processes with a view to revitalize them for continuous optimum use.

The implementation focused on statutory requirements, modification, repair and preventive maintenance, as well as a well service campaign which handles production at the field. The turnaround was successfully completed on schedule (21 days) with zero accidents and involved more than 900 personnel from multiple nationalities.

"The success of the Turnaround Maintenance process is something that we should appreciate. With this success, we hope that MLN can continue to operate optimally and become a picture of PIEP with a reputation for excellent competence,” said   Jaffee A. Suardin, President Director PIEP.

"The Turnaround Maintenance process is not an easy thing to do. There are many challenges faced such as a short time and carried out under extreme desert temperatures reaching ± 45°C. Appreciation for optimal performance," said Achmad Jamaludin Perdana, Country Manager Zone 15 PAEP on this occasion.

It was the 4th Turnaround Maintenance conducted since Pertamina began to operate the field back in 2013. PAEP believes it will help to further strengthen Pertamina’s footprint in North Africa as the project involved many Algerian companies and personnel that played significant roles in the exercise. Algerian suppliers and service providers were proactively involved as part of PAEP’s strategy to utilize local partners.

Since operated by PERTAMINA , MLN has produced from Berkin Basin more than 62 million barrels of oil. The field has the capacity to produce more than 17,000 barrels of oil a day and 300 million standard cubic feet of gas a day.
