Pertamina Completes First Batch of Human Resources Upskilling Programme for Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC)

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP) has concluded the upskilling program for 5 (five) workers of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), which has been implemented since January, coinciding with the state visit of Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu Hasan, to Indonesia.

This human resource development aims to support sustainable business between the two countries, which is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies.

President Director of PIEP, Jaffee A. Suardin, said, "Pertamina through three entities within the Upstream Subholding, namely, PIEP together with Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) and Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI), carried out a Capacity Building programme for almost three months for TPDC workers. We hope this programme can increase the capacity of human resources, especially to increase knowledge. In addition, they have new skill sets, especially in exploration and hydrocarbons, so these workers can support TPDC in developing into a world-class energy company. In the future, Pertamina and TPDC can support sustainable business cooperation," said Jaffee when closing the agenda on Monday (1/4).

Jaffee also expressed appreciation for the collaboration and support from PDSI and PHR that have accompanied this upskilling program from the beginning.

Meanwhile, Human Capital Subholding Upstream Pertamina, represented by Rivani Pahlani, Senior Manager of HC Strategic, said that the upskilling programme is designed to provide TPDC representatives with both theoretical (classroom) and practical material.

Participants have gained hands-on experience through on-the-job training programmes at Pertamina through several business units in the PHR Working Area in Sumatra and at PDSI's Indonesia Drilling Training Centre in Cirebon to enhance the implementation process.

"Besides understanding the oil and gas industry, participants are also introduced to Indonesian culture. We appreciate the collaboration of PIEP, PDSI, and PHR as part of the Upstream Subholding," she said.

Regarding this matter, the Senior Engineer at TPDC, Gaston Canuty, appreciates the cooperation between Pertamina and TPDC regarding HR development. "My colleagues and I highly appreciate this activity. Pertamina, with such a large organization, serves as an inspiration for TPDC. Capacity Building is a good start to realizing the MoU between Pertamina and TPDC," said Gaston.

As information, this program is a follow-up to the visit of Pertamina's CEO, Nicke Widyawati, to Tanzania in August 2023. At that time, the CEO of Pertamina accompanied President Joko Widodo on a visit to several African countries, including Tanzania, and brought several cooperation initiatives in the upstream, midstream, downstream, and geothermal sectors.

The Capacity-Building agenda, conducted in a spirit of friendship, is the fundamental basis for bilateral cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation will provide positive added value for Tanzania and Indonesia, particularly for Pertamina and TPDC.
